Ahead of its fifth edition, Louvre Abu Dhabi has just revealed the members of jury and shortlisted artists for this year’s iteration of the Art Here and the Richard Mille Art Prize. Running from Oct. 11 all the way to Nov. 28, the initiative, which seeks to champion the region, and world’s, most prominent profiles in the realm of contemporary art has announced this week which artists will be featured in the upcoming exhibition, along with the names of the jurors who will determine the winner of the annual award.
Curated by Swiss-Japanese multihyphenate Sophie Mayuko Arni, artists were asked to present bodies of work related to the notion of shadows. Since the theme’s reveal, in total, over 400 proposals were submitted, hailing from all four corners of the world. For the last round, only six pieces from seven artists across different practices were chosen, including from Emirati artist Jumairy, Pakistani visual artist Hamra Abbas, Palestinian researcher Ahmed Alaqra, Japanese media artist Ryoichi Kurokawa, multidisciplinary creator Rintaro Fuse, and architectural duo Yokomae et Bouayad.

“Now in its fifth edition, Art Here continues to grow as a platform for dialogue and discovery,” Manuel Rabate, director of Louvre Abu Dhabi said, per The National. “The calibre and number of proposals received this year reflect the region’s growing creative momentum and the expanding reach of the initiative.”
Adviser to the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan; Guilhem Andre, Director of Scientific, Curatorial, and Collections Management at Louvre Abu Dhabi; Maya Allison, Executive Director of The Art Gallery at NYU Abu Dhabi; along with curators Yuko Hasegawa and Sophie Mayuko Arni, will be tasked with assessing the shortlisted works and selecting the recipient of this year’s award.
The winner will be announced on the opening night of the exhibition on Oct. 11.
