Dubai Design Week (DDW), a fixture on the city’s cultural calendar, has begun teasing its upcoming edition. Returning for its 11th year, the event will once again take place under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Culture & Arts Authority, and will run from November 4 to 9.

From what has been revealed thus far, design lovers can look forward to a roster of events spanning exhibitions, panel discussions, public installations, and educational programming designed to bring professionals and the wider community together. For the main event, Downtown Design, the d3 Waterfront Terrace will transform into the region’s leading design fair, showcasing the latest in furniture, lighting, lifestyle products, and materials.

Global names like Kartell, Kohler, and Vitra will return alongside newcomers such as Roche Bobois, Stellar Works, and Calico Wallpaper. Regional creativity will also take the spotlight with contributions from Lebanon’s BEIT Collective, Saudi Arabia’s Designed in Saudi initiative, and UAE-based platforms like Tashkeel and MAKE.

Complementing the fair, Editions will highlight limited-edition design and art, with collectible works ranging from photography and ceramics to contemporary objects. Expect international debuts and regional showcases, from Japanese pop art to collaborations between designers like david/nicolas with Iwan Maktabi.

The popular Urban Commissions competition will return, this year inviting architects and designers to reimagine the courtyard as a communal, climate-conscious public space. The winning concept by UAE-based studio Some Kind of Practice draws on the Emirati housh, blending tradition with new approaches to community building.

On the educational side, the workshops and talks program will welcome experts from institutions like UAL and MIT, alongside regional studios and publishers. At the same time, The Forum at Downtown Design will host keynotes from global design leaders including Tom Dixon, Lee Broom, and Isabelle Stanislas.

Rounding out the week, the Marketplace (8–9 Nov.) will once again offer a refreshing open-air retail experience for independent makers and homegrown brands to present jewellery, homeware, fashion, and lifestyle products. With food stalls, kids’ activities and live performances, it’s a family-friendly celebration of creativity and craft.
