Paris Fashion Week may have just ended, but in Riyadh, the runway energy is only just getting started. From October 16–21, 2025, Riyadh Fashion Week (RFW) returns for its third edition, and it’s already making headlines before a single model hits the catwalk. Why? Because Vivienne Westwood, the queen of subversion, and one of fashion’s most politically charged houses, is opening the week.
This marks the British brand’s official Middle East debut, and it’s an undeniably bold first move. Westwood is not a safe, neutral luxury label. It’s a house synonymous with rebellion, anti-establishment glamour, corseted silhouettes, climate activism, and theatrical sensuality. From anarchist tees to tartan tailoring and bustiers printed with political manifestos, Westwood’s DNA has always been loud, defiant, and deeply ideological. Which makes its selection as the international label to open Riyadh Fashion Week both unexpected and brilliant.
Rather than opting for a softer, more commercial European name, RFW has chosen a brand that signals confidence. The message is clear: Saudi fashion is ready to be part of, and shape, culture, beyond stereotypes of modesty and restriction. It’s a strategic repositioning— less “emerging market,” more “cultural disruptor.”
And the Saudi lineup backing it proves the point. This season features powerhouses like Tima Abid, Atelier Hekayat, Abadia, Hindamme, and 1886, all designers who remix heritage with futurism, streetwear with tradition, ornament with intellect. Expect everything from high-octane couture to reimagined thobes and tech-fabric streetwear, all rooted in a distinctly Saudi identity that refuses to be boxed in.
The runways will transform Riyadh’s most iconic locations such as Bedrock, Al Mamlaka, and JAX District into living moodboards, turning the city itself into part of the storytelling. With Cenomi Centers and Saudia joining as official partners, RFW continues to evolve beyond a fashion showcase into a cultural engine that merges design, heritage, entertainment, and tourism in real time.
