Morocco’s football team has done it again. The Lions of the Atlas have officially become the men’s team with the most consecutive wins in football history. Adding another achievement to their growing list of firsts and feats, the North African nation has, as of October 14, become the first team ever to win 16 fixtures in a row— surpassing Spain’s previous record of 15 consecutive victories.
Beating their Congolese counterparts in a tense game, Morocco secured a narrow 1–0 win, the difference was made in the 63rd minute by Youssef En-Nesyri, assisted by Achraf Hakimi.

Joining a very tight circle of nations to ever manage this exploit, the Kingdom continues to prove that their historic run in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar wasn’t a fluke nor a coincidence, but instead the result of years of investment, strategy, and a generation of players hitting their stride at once.
For context, Morocco hasn’t lost a single game since March 26, 2024.
As it turns out, Morocco’s senior team isn’t the only one making headlines this week as the country’s U20 squad has just reached the finals of the FIFA U20 World Cup in Chile. After a tense draw against France, the Atlas Cubs came out on top in a dramatic penalty shootout, winning 5–4. Now, they’re just one game away from glory— with the chance to achieve what no other Moroccan side has before, be it the seniors, youth divisions, or women’s team.
