A few weeks ago, we reported that Art Dubai was forced to postpone its 2026 edition amid the ongoing U.S.–Israel war on Iran, a conflict that disrupted flights, shipping, and the broader regional calendar, leaving the UAE caught in its logistical and geopolitical spillover. Unlike other events, instead of cancelling its 2026 edition altogether, Art Dubai opted to postpone it to a later date, which is seemingly just around the corner. According to a recently released press statement, this adapted iteration of the fair will now run from May 15 to 17, returning to Madinat Jumeirah as originally planned.

According to organizers, around 75 presentations from commercial galleries, institutional participants, and partners will be showcased. Highlights this year include a major presentation from the Dubai Collection, dubbed Made Forward, marking the city’s first institutional collection of modern and contemporary art; an exhibition of modern Arab art from the Barjeel Art Foundation; a performance-led program with Sharjah Art Foundation; and a series of large-scale installations, new commissions, and site-responsive works integrated across the fair, including pieces by Khalid Al Banna, Hashel Al Lamki, Rashid Bin Shabib, and Ahmed Bin Shabib. A program of moving image works co-curated with Alserkal Avenue, screened across both venues, will also feature alongside activations involving Art Jameel, National Pavilion UAE, La Biennale di Venezia, and the Ministry of Culture, with daily talks, activations, and live moments running throughout.

“Art Dubai has always been more than a conventional art fair, developing into an international platform for this region’s cultural scene as it matures. This special edition will demonstrate the resilience of the UAE’s cultural scene as well as the power of collaboration, bringing together galleries, artists and institutions at a time when that role of convening feels more important than ever,” Benedetta Ghione, Executive Director, Art Dubai Group said.

“Art Dubai’s story is Dubai’s story, and producing this special edition would only be possible in Dubai, for an organization that has grown hand-in-hand with the city, and with the support of our long-term partners. Current circumstances mean that this may not be what we had planned to mark our 20th edition, but the galleries and wider programmes represent what makes Art Dubai both unique and special,“ she added.

With an invitation-only preview scheduled on May 14 ahead of its official opening, if you’re in Dubai and looking for an art fix with everything going on, don’t miss the chance next month.
