If you were lucky enough to visit Marassi Galleria Mall last week, you might’ve stumbled upon a little slice of Parisian charm. From Dec. 4 to 7, Hermès brought its traveling pop-up, Le Monde d’Hermès, to Bahrain, and it was nothing short of magical.
Designed by MEAN* (Middle East Architecture Network), an innovative architecture practice based in Dubai, the orange-washed structure drew inspiration from classic Parisian newspaper stands, offering visitors a unique dive into the creative universe of Hermès. Guests were greeted by the delightful Mr. Kiosk and introduced to a lively cast of characters, like the Diver—sharing tales of sunken treasures—and the Explorer, inspired by the legendary journeys of Émile Hermès. There was even an Oracle offering tarot readings.

Guests were also able to watch an artist hand-paint fans inspired by Hermès’ 2024 theme, The Spirit of the Faubourg, or play a few board games while soaking in the atmosphere. And to top it off, there was a flower cart handing out blooms and treats, along with copies of Le Monde d’Hermès, the brand’s biannual magazine that beautifully showcases Hermès’ collections and spirit.
First launched in 1973, Le Monde d’Hermès provides an intimate glimpse into the world of Hermès, showcasing its collections, inspirations, and creative processes. Published in multiple languages, the magazine reflects Hermès’ global presence and appeals to a wide audience. Each issue is thoughtfully curated by a team of editors, writers, and artists, exploring everything from the brand’s rich heritage to its modern-day innovations.
In 2021, Hermès took the concept of Le Monde d’Hermès a step further with a traveling kiosk inspired by traditional Parisian newsstands. The first kiosk debuted in Prague and has since journeyed to cities like Abu Dhabi, Doha, and Hong Kong, offering a hands-on, immersive way to experience the magazine’s content.

The Bahrain stop of the Le Monde d’Hermès kiosk was a whimsical celebration of craftsmanship and storytelling, and a fitting tribute to Hermès’ legacy of innovation and artistry. The kiosk’s design by MEAN* added a contemporary touch to the traditional concept, reflecting the firm’s commitment to blending design with emergent technologies. Founded in 2016, MEAN* has developed a diverse portfolio, including projects like the Deciduous 3D Printed Pavilion in Dubai and the Audi Innovation Hub, showcasing their innovative approach to architecture.
If you missed it, don’t worry; Le Monde d’Hermès is always on the move. Who knows? It might just pop up in a city near you.
